Limited Capacity filling up

Wouldn’t it be amazing to see elementary and middle school students unleash their innate creativity by building extraordinary technology projects?
The focus of this session is to introduce participants to a number of innovative ways in which iPads and MacBooks can be used in conjunction with one another in a classroom to build high quality, student-made iBooks that will dramatically increase the student learning experience.
In this presentation, participants will learn how to use iPads and MacBooks with elementary and middle school audiences in ways that enable students to illustrate their higher order thinking in multifaceted ways. Specifically, the presenter will provide a brief overview of iBooks Author, Apple’s free eBook authoring application, as well as illustrate how to use iBooks Author to create a final product that comes in the form of an iBook enriched with text, pictures, 3D objects, review questions, and personal videos and narrations. Additionally, the presenter will demonstrate how teachers and students can use App Smashing with the Tellagami, iMovie, Movenote, and Explain Everything iPad apps to create videos that they will embed in the iBook. Moreover, the presenter will show how teachers and students can use GarageBand and Keynote in conjunction with each other to create a short introductory video that will further enrich their iBook and give it a professional look. Finally, the presenter will show how to use Sketch Up, a 3D application, to create 3-dimensional interactive objects, and how to import these objects into the iBook using the appropriate widget.
The activities shared in this dynamic event are aligned to several Technology, Language Arts, and Math Common Core Standards across grade levels. Participants are encouraged to bring an iPad 2 or higher and a MacBook.
